Adiam's Innocence

BACKGROUND

Adiam was a young Eritrean beauty that immigrated to Victoria from Eritrea with her family to escape the violence in the war for independence from Ethiopia.

The exotic dignity of her queen like bearing and delightfully innocent presence is what compelled me to sculpt her. She was truly as ethereal and otherworldly as she looks.

Adiam’s Innocence won second place in the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists (CIPA) 2002 Competition in Sculpture
