Mbuto grew up in South Africa… and Zimbabwe the country of my husband’s birth. She had the courage and determination to come to Canada, on her own, when only 19 years of age! With unshakable resolve and a happy heart she has made Canada her home.

This sculpture was made possible by my friend, Mbuto, who voluntarily modeled for me during a period of four years!

With anticipation, she clasps her hands together while her shy smile gives us a fleeting look into her world. Her youthful body, not quite exposed, represents her vulnerability while following her Hopes and Dreams.
